9th Annual Dr. Pepper Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship
Florida State and Duke will meet in the 9th Annual ACC Football Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium...Florida State will be making its fourth appearance in the game, its second straight and third in the last four years, the last three of which have been played in Charlotte...Florida State won the inaugural Championship Game in Jacksonville in 2005, defeating Virginia Tech 27-22; lost to the Hokies in the 2010 game, 44-33, and defeated Georgia Tech, 21-15, last year...The Seminoles have won or shared 13 ACC Football Championships since joining the league in 1992, one shy of Clemson (14)....In a season of firsts, Duke makes its first appearance in the ACC title game...The Blue Devils also have won 10 games for the first time in school history...Duke has never beaten Florida State, having lost 18 straight since the Seminoles joined the ACC in 1992...In that time, though, the FSU has only faced one Duke team that was nationally ranked (16th, 1994)...Duke’s last ACC football title was a co-championship with Virginia in 1989...Both teams enter Saturday’s game on winning streaks, with Florida State having won 14 games in a row and Duke eight games straight...Florida State’s win streak is 2nd nationally only to Ohio State, while Duke’s ties for 4th longest current streak nationally...The Blue Devils have won or shared seven ACC Football Championships...Florida State leads the nation in scoring defense (11.0) and is second nationally in scoring offense (53.7)...FSU freshman QB Jameis Winston leads the nation in pass effi ciency (192.6)...Duke freshman DB Devon Edwards leads the nation in kickoff return average (32.7).

Duke owns a 10-win season for the first time in school history and is seeking its first Atlantic Coast Conference championship since sharing the 1989 title with Virginia ... The Blue Devils last outright title came in 1962, and the program owns seven ACC Championships overall ... The Coastal Division title is Duke’s first since the ACC went to divisional play in 2005, and the Blue Devils will be the first team other than Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech to represent the Coastal in the ACC Championship Game ... The Blue Devils’ six ACC wins are Duke’s most conference victories in a season since 1989 (6-1) … In the eight seasons of ACC divisional play prior to 2013, Duke won a total of nine league games ...
