The Athletics have acquired closer Jim Johnson from the Orioles in exchange for infielder Jemile Weeks and a player to be named later.  Johnson recorded a major league-best 101 saves over the previous two years with the Orioles.  Last season, the right- hander saved 50 games and compiled a 2.94 ERA.

The Washington Nationals have acquired Doug Fister from the Tigers.  The Nationals sent infielder Steve Lombardozzi and a pair of 22-year-old left- handers, Ian Krol and Robbie Ray, to the Tigers.  Fister won a career-high 14 games and compiled a 3.67 earned run average in 32 starts and one relief appearance for the Tigers in 2013.
