TIME TO GIVE THANKS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL
As I was watching the scores roll in late Saturday, my first thought was “it’s going to be a tough weekend!” So it’s time to give thanks to the teams that screwed up my weekend, a weekend in which I went 23-7.
USC fires Lane Kiffin and they go out and beat Arizona. This was a game filled with plenty of offense and very little Wildcats defense. Thanks Arizona!
Georgia is at home against Missouri. The Bulldogs dug themselves a hole in the first half and never recovered. Thanks Georgia!
This week I decide NOT to take Texas and guess what? They decide to play some defense. Are you fricken kidding me? Thanks Oklahoma!
Northwestern has come back to earth. Wisconsin shut down the Wildcat offense. Thanks Northwestern!
Picking Michigan was a gamble that didn’t pay off. The Wolverines have been overrated all season. Give Penn State credit after losing to Indiana last week and coming back with a big win. Thanks Michigan!
And finally, thanks to Stanford after losing at Utah 27-21. I watched the Utes play last week and saw a very average QB and a very average defense. So why not pull the upset over the Cardinal. Thanks Stanford!!!
Some of the other games I almost lost included Northern Illinois’s win over Akron 27-20, Maryland by one over Virginia 27-26, Baylor rallied to beat Kansas State 35-25, Clemson need 14 points in the fourth to beat Boston College 24-14, Ball State rallied to down Kent State 27-24 and Texas Tech defeated Iowa State 42-35. Wow that was close.
This week’s big games include:
4-1 Central Florida @ #8 Louisville 6-0
4-2 Minnesota @ Northwestern 4-2
5-1 #11 South Carolina @ Tennessee 3-3
6-0 #16 Texas Tech @ West Virginia 3-3
4-2 #22 Florida @ #14 Missouri 6-0
4-2 BYU @ Houston 5-0
4-2 Iowa @ #4 6-0 Ohio State
5-0 #9 UCLA @ 5-1 #13 Stanford
5-1 #24 Auburn @ 5-1 #7 Texas A&M
4-2 #20 Washington @ 4-2 Arizona State
4-2 USC @ 4-2 Notre Dame
5-0 #5 Florida State @ 6-0 #3 Clemson
