Men's Soccer

RICHMOND, Ind. — A pair of goals late in the second half on Saturday gave the Earlham College men's soccer team a 2-0 victory over Franklin College on Matlack Field.
Felicien Muyumba scored the first goal for the Quakers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match with the Grizzlies (2-5-2, 0-1).
Corey Campbell assisted on the play at 73:32. Ameer Yusuf capped the victory off with an unassisted score at 89:08.
The Quakers led 19-12 in shots and 6-4 in corner kicks.
Earlham goalkeeper Sam Embry recorded six saves for the Quakers.
The Quakers (5-6, 1-0) visit Defiance College on Wednesday. The HCAC contest begins at 3:30 p.m.

 

Women's Cross Country

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's cross country team won its first meet of the year on Saturday.
The Quakers won the Earlham Invitational with 29 points. Anderson University was second with 32, while Indiana University-Kokomo was third with 66. Indiana University-East competed in the event, but didn't have enough runners to score.
Maddie Fega was second in the 5K race to lead the Quakers with a time of 21:28 just behind winner Margo Sinclair of Anderson, who posted a 21:25.
Earlham's Emmy Zimmerman was third with a time of 21:38.
The other runners to score for the Quakers were:
• Mackenzie Hepburn, 5th in 22:07. • Emma Jenkins-Sullivan, 9th in 22:48. • Nora Swift, 10th in 22:54.
The Quakers compete in the Manchester University Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19. The meet gets underway at 11 a.m.

 

Women's Soccer

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's soccer team opened play in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday with a 2-1 overtime loss to Franklin College.
Annie Frodeman gave the Quakers an 1-0 advantage at the 10:06 mark of the contest on Matlack Field. Abigail McCullough assisted on the score.
The Grizzlies (7-3, 1-0) tied the affair at 18:56. The match stayed that way until 1:06:30 of the second extra session when Franklin scored the game-winner.
The Quakers led 18-16 in shots, while Franklin had an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.
Earlham goalkeeper A.J. Johnson had eight saves for the Quakers.
Next up for the Quakers (1-6-1, 0-1) is a trip to Defiance College on Tuesday. The HCAC match is at 3:30 p.m.

 

Field Hockey

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College field hockey team fell 3-0 to the University of the South on Saturday in Darrell Beane Stadium.
The University of the South scored twice in the first half and once in the second period.
The Tigers (5-3) led 24-9 in shots and 12-6 in penalty corners.
Earlham goalkeeper Helen Titcomb had 12 saves for the Quakers.
The Quakers (2-10) resume their North Coast Athletic Conference schedule on Friday at Kenyon College. The match starts at 1 p.m.

 

Men's Cross Country

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's cross country team finished second in the Earlham Invitational on Saturday.
The Quakers had 51 points behind winner Anderson University, which had 32 points. Indiana University-East was third with 56 points and Indiana University-Kokomo was fourth with 89.
Gabriel Penk was the top performer for the Quakers in third place with a time of 28:40 in the 8K run.
The other runners to score for the Quakers were:
• Simon Conrad, 5th in 29:08. • Keith Runyan, 12th in 30:07. • Paul Maxson, 15th in 30:16. • Charlie Boyd, 16th in 30:23.
Earlham will participate in the Manchester University Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19. The event starts at 11 a.m.
