The Colts manhandled a team that many thought were one of the most physical teams in the NFL, the 49ers. Indy dominated the line of scrimmage and ran the football with great determination. Andrew Luck will become more dangerous now than Ahmad Bradshaw and Trent Richardson are in his backfield.
If you don’t believe coaching doesn’t make a difference, take a look at Kansas City. Andy Reid comes from Philadelphia and instills a system of belief in a team with plenty of talent from a year ago. Now the Chiefs are 3-0.
Houston was one of the favorites in the AFC but now I’m not so sure after watching them get crushed at Baltimore. One must wonder how much longer Houston fans will be patient with getting close to the Super Bowl. The way they played Sunday they may not make the playoffs.
The Giants were crushed by an average Carolina team 38-0. Tom Coughlin’s days are numbered in New York. Eli Manning was sacked 7 times.
Did you see the Cincinnati-Green Bay game? There was a time when I was wondering if either team really wanted to win this game. The amount of turnovers by each team was a little shocking. I know there are days like this in the NFL, but these are two of the better teams in the league.
How bad is Minnesota? They lose to Cleveland at home right after the Browns traded away Trent Richardson to Indy. The Browns start a back-up QB who also throws three INT’s and the Vikings still can’t win? This could be another coaching change soon!
Things are looking bad for Tampa Bay. That is a team that doesn’t appear to have a clue.
The Saints have rebounded nicely from last years’ debacle. Drew Brees threw for 342 yards and four TD’s against Arizona Sunday. New Orleans is now 3-0.
San Diego is a team I just can’t trust week by week. They go to Tennessee and lose to the Titans 20-17. I am beginning to wonder just how long they can stay with Phillip Rivers? Yes, Rivers completed 20 of 24 passes, but he had only 184 yards! And to make matters worse, the Chargers can’t run the football.
The Lions go to Washington and beat the Redskins for the first time in their history. Detroit was 0-21 until Sunday’s 27-20 win. I have a feeling Mike Shanahan’s honeymoon is over in DC. Way too many mistakes for the Redskins!
Miami is 3-0? Where in the world did this come from? And they are tied with New England for first in the AFC East. QB Ryan Tannehill is showing he can play in this league. Meanwhile, the Falcons continue to underachieve.
The Jets can officially move on without Mark Sanchez’ name ever coming up ever again! Rookie Geno Smith led the team to a win Sunday over the Bills and threw for 331 yards and three TD’s. Smith is giving Jets fans some hope.
After watching the Colts dismantle the 49ers Sunday, the first thought that went through my head was about SF QB Colin Kaepernick. He came on the scene last season and took the league by storm. You see that happen a lot in sports. But once other teams figure you out, it’s up to you to take your game to another level. I don’t see Kaeperncik doing that, at least not in the last two weeks.
Right now Seattle appears to be the odds on favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. The Seahawks dominated Jacksonville Sunday in a game that wasn’t as close as the score may have indicated. Seattle had 479 yards of total offense and held the Jaguars to 265.
The Steelers need a complete makeover. Big Ben threw for 406 yards only because they were playing from behind most of the night. Way too many turnovers and mistakes by the veteran QB.
And how about the Bears? 3-0 under Mark Trestman. The Chicago defense forced turnovers against the Steelers and returned two for scores. The Bears offense is averaging over 30 points per game! Maybe more NFL teams should look to the CFL for coaches.
The Monday night game could get real ugly…..be ready for a back-up plan!
