IT'S TIME TO GIVE THANKS! KIND OF.

Predicting college and NFL games isn’t always an exact science. There are several ways to go about picking who will win week by week including point spread, where a team is playing, injuries and even the color of their uniforms. So far, I am having a good two weeks of the college football season and an average opening weekend of the NFL. So it’s time for me to go after the ones who messed up my week two selections.
I went 61-7 in the second week of college football and there were four very disappointing teams, Indiana, Florida, Texas and USC. Indiana pulled the same trick by pounding Indiana State and then losing to Navy. The Hoosiers need to find a defense, one that can tackle. Yes, I know Navy runs the triple option but what they did to Indiana was embarrassing. Thanks Indiana!
Florida lost at Miami. This loss was a little easier to take but the Gators never got its offense in the end zone despite gaining 413 yards of total offense. The Gators defense did its job by holding Miami to only 212 yards of total offense. And how can I forget the five Florida turnovers? I can’t….Thanks Florida!
Texas…are you kidding me? Why didn’t you fire your DC before the game at BYU? The Longhorns gave up 40 points, 550 yards rushing and 679 net yards to the Cougars. Is Mack Brown still employed? Thanks Texas!
And finally for the college football disappointments…the Trojans of USC. Lane Kiffin is next to be fired after Mack Brown. You are at home against Washington State and manage only 7 points? Quarterback controversy? I thought you could get a good quarterback in Southern California. Cody Kessler was under center in the first half and Max Wittek taking over in the second half. Kessler was a dreadful 8-for-13 for 41 yards and an interception and Wittek finished 3-for-8 with a crucial interception on the Trojans' final possession. Thanks USC!
Now on to the NFL. There are still two games to be played on Monday night, but after Sunday, I am 8-6 in straight up selections. Here are the teams I want to thank for screwing things up on Sunday. First, the Cincinnati Bengals. I keep hearing how good the Bengals are going to be and yes, there is still time, with 15 games remaining. But losing to the Bears, a team with with so many question marks, was unacceptable. The Bengals couldn’t run the football finishing with only 63 yards on the ground. Thanks Bengals!
Second, the Cleveland Browns at home against the Miami Dolphins. You are at home in the season opener against a Miami team that doesn’t play well on the road and you can’t win? It appears Brandon Weeden isn’t the answer after throwing three picks. Cleveland also has RB Trent Richardson but he averaged only 3.6 yards per carry. Thanks Cleveland!
Third, the Minnesota Vikings….The Vikings defense gave up 469 yards of total offense to the Lions, including 357 through the air. They made Reggie Bush look like a hall of fame player. And Christian Ponder threw three interceptions…Thanks Minnesota!
Fourth….the Tampa Bay Bucs. Thanks to Lavonte David for the late hit! Enough said.
Finally, the Pittsburgh Steelers. How far have the Steelers fallen? Losing to the Titans…managing only 195 net yards of total offense…32 net yards rushing (2.1 yards per carry). The Steelers ran the ball only 15 times the entire game. And believe me when I say they lost to a bad Tennessee team! Thanks Steelers!
