RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College Director of Athletics Mike Bergum announced an
addition to his department on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Kaitlin Leach has accepted the position of Associate Athletic Director/Senior
"Kaitlin brings a wide range of experience to the job, which will benefit the
athletic department and Earlham College," Bergum said. "It is exciting to have her
join the Quaker team."
Leach will begin her duties later this month.
"It is an honor to join Mike Bergum and the athletics staff at Earlham College,"
Leach said. "I am excited to bring my passion and enthusiasm for college athletics
to an already-accomplished program that is growing, on and off campus."
Leach comes to Earlham from the College of Saint Elizabeth (Morristown, N.J.) where
she was the Associate Director of Athletics/Sports Information Director/Senior
"I look forward to immediately working with the tremendous Earlham student-athletes
to enhance their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in the
community," added Leach.
Vince Punzo, the Athletic Advisory Committee convener and one of Earlham's Faculty
Athletic Representatives to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, is looking
forward to Leach arriving at Earlham.
"I am excited that she will be joining us," Punzo said. "She brings a wealth of
experience in athletics and strikes me as a good fit for the College. I think she
will hit the ground running and our student-athletes and faculty will soon be
impressed by the energy and initiatives she will bring to Earlham athletics."
Earlham's other HCAC Faculty Representative, Kari Kalve, is excited about the
possibilities Leach brings to Earlham.
"As the college strives to better integrate the many parts of an Earlham education,
I am looking forward to the role Kaitlin will be able to play in demonstrating the
connections between athletics and academics and in explicitly connecting athletics
with the 10-year mindset and the concept of fully present.”
A 2008 graduate of the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York, Leach earned her
Bachelor's degree in Business. In 2010, she received her Master's in Management from
the College of Saint Elizabeth.
As an undergraduate at Mount Saint Vincent, Leach played basketball for four years
and was a team captain. She also played tennis. At Saint Elizabeth, she served as an
assistant swim coach for two seasons.
