1963 The New York Titans of the American Football League changed their name to the New York Jets.
1964 Oklahoma State won its 24th National Collegiate wrestling team title, setting a team scoring record in the process.
1992 Christian Laettner hit a 15-foot turnaround jumper at the buzzer to give defending champion Duke a 104-103 overtime victory Kentucky and a fifth consecutive trip to the Final Four.
1995 Michael Jordan set a Madison Square Garden record scoring 55 in 113-111 victory over Knicks.
2001 Milwaukee Bucks signed coach George Karl to a two-year contact extension worth $14 million and included a percentage of the franchise, which made him the highest paid coach in professional sports.
2002 Arkansas named Stan Heath its new head basketball coach.
2002 Earl Barron poured in 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting, including 19 in the first half, as the Memphis Tigers rolled to a 72-62 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks in the NIT championship game at Madison Square Garden.
2004 Jarrett Jack scored a career-high 29 points to help Georgia Tech earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament Final Four with a 79-71 overtime victory over Kansas at the Edward Jones Dome.

2007 The Canadian Football League named Mark Cohon the 12th commissioner of the league.
2009 Kemba Walker scored a career-high 23 points and Connecticut earned another trip to the Final Four with an 82-75 victory over Missouri in the West Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament.

2012 Southern Illinois named Barry Hinson its new basketball coach.
