FIELD SET FOR 2013 BIG EAST MEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After going 14-4 in BIG EAST play during one of the most
thrilling regular seasons in league history, Georgetown has earned the No. 1 seed in
The 2013 BIG EAST Championship presented by American Eagle Outfitters.

The Hoyas tied Louisville and Marquette as BIG EAST regular-season champions, but
earned the top seed based on head-to-head results against those two teams.
Georgetown defeated Syracuse Saturday to claim its 10th BIG EAST regular-season
crown, tying Connecticut and Syracuse for the most in league history.

Louisville will be the No. 2 seed in The BIG EAST Championship, while Marquette will
be the No. 3 seed. The Cardinals claimed their second BIG EAST regular-season title
after a win against Notre Dame Saturday, while Marquette picked up its first
regular-season championship after the Golden Eagles scored a buzzer-beating overtime
win against St. John's on the final day of the regular season.

The 2013 Championship will mark the 31st edition of the BIG EAST at Madison Square
Garden, marking the longest-running conference tournament at one venue in the
country. It will be the 34th tournament in league history.

Pittsburgh joins Georgetown, Louisville and Marquette as the top four seeds in The
BIG EAST Championship, which begins Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. Eastern. Those four
schools receive byes through two rounds of the tournament and won't play until
Thursday's quarterfinals.

The Championship begins Tuesday with a pair of first-round matchups. Seton Hall and
USF kick things off with a battle between the Nos. 12 and 13 seeds at 7 p.m., while
No. 11 Rutgers takes on No. 14 DePaul at 9 p.m. to complete Tuesday's session. Those
games will be televised on ESPNU.

No. 8-seed Providence will take on No. 9 Cincinnati Wednesday at noon in the first
of four second-round games. No. 5 Syracuse has the USF/Seton Hall winner at 2 p.m.,
while No. 7 Villanova takes on No. 10  St. John's at 7 p.m. No. 6 Notre Dame closes
Wednesday's action against the Rutgers/DePaul winner. The Wednesday afternoon games
will be televised on ESPN, while the evening twinbill will be on ESPN2.

Friday's semifinals are scheduled for 7 and 9 p.m. on ESPN, while the championship
game tips at 8:30 p.m. Saturday on ESPN.

Georgetown and Connecticut have won a conference-record seven BIG EAST
Championships, while Louisville comes in looking to defend its crown from 2012. The
winner of the BIG EAST Championship has reached the NCAA Final Four in each of the
last two seasons.
