The OpponentThe Golden Gophers (16-11, 5-8 B1G) defeated Ohio State for the second time this season, this time on a last-second jump shot by Rachel Banham for a 57-56 win in Columbus. Minnesota is led by Banham's 21.2 ppg scoring average, which is tied with Ohio State's Tayler Hill for highest scoring average in the Big Ten. Banham also contributes 3.9 rebounds and a team-high 3.8 assists per game, while junior forward Micaella Riche is averaging 12.7 points and a team-best 7.2 rebounds an outing.

The Series Purdue holds a 40-17 series advantage against the Gophers and has won eight of the last nine matchups, including four in a row. The last time these two teams met in Minneapolis, the Boilermakers' Brittany Rayburn tied an NCAA women's record with 12 three-pointers, scoring a career-high 38 points to help No. 17 Purdue cruise to a 72-55 win. The Boilermakers are 17-12 all time at Minnesota, including 11-11 in Williams Arena against the Gophers. Earlier this season, Purdue knocked off Minnesota 75-67 on Jan. 17. Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp is 9-2 against Minnesota's Pam Borton in her seven years in West Lafayette.

Last Time Vs. Minnesota Sam Ostarello had 19 points and 14 rebounds as Purdue defeated Minnesota 75-67 on Jan. 17. Courtney Moses added 18 points and six assists, Drey Mingo scored 14 points and KK Houserhad 10 assists for the Boilermakers, who had gone into overtime to win each of their last three games. Rachel Banham and Leah Cotton led Minnesota with 17 points apiece, and Shayne Mullaney had 12. Purdue never trailed in the game, scoring the first six points of the game en route to a 38-33 halftime advantage. The Boilermakers led by as many as 14 points in the second half. Minnesota tied the game once, at 20-20 with 7:21 left in the first half, but Purdue scored the next eight points on a three-point play by Mingo, a three-pointer from Moses and a layup from Ostarello.

Purdue vs. The Big Ten ConferenceThe Boilermakers are 403-223 all time against teams in the Big Ten Conference, including 348-175 in league games. Purdue has the highest winning percentage vs. Michigan (49-16, .754), followed by Illinois (49-16, .753) and Wisconsin (45-17, .726). Purdue is 40-17 (.702) versus the Gophers, 44-19 (.698) against Northwestern, 2-1 (.667) when playing Nebraska, 50-26 (.658) when taking on instate rival Indiana and 26-17 (.605) against Penn State. Purdue is 37-26 (.587) versus Michigan State and holds a 35-28 (.556) record versus Iowa. Purdue has a winning record against every conference opponent except Ohio State (27-40, .403).

Next UpThe Boilermakers will be on the Big Ten Network for the final two games of the regular season, both home contests. Purdue takes on Michigan State at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 and will play host to Illinois on March 3 at 4 p.m. The Big Ten Tournament has moved to Hoffman Estates, Ill., outside of Chicago and will be held March 7 to 10.

Last Time Out Jasmine McGhee scored 26 points, including the game-winning basket with one second remaining, as Indiana knocked off No. 22 Purdue 62-61 Wednesday night. McGhee hit two free throws with 1:14 remaining, snapping a run of seven straight points by Purdue and giving the Hoosiers a 60-59 lead. A basket by KK Houser put the Boilermakers back on top 61-60 with just under 13 seconds left before Indiana called timeout and got the ball to McGhee, whose jumper sealed the victory and snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Hoosiers. Aulani Sinclair added 16 points and Sasha Chaplin had 10 for Indiana. Freshman Taylor Manuel led Purdue with 16 points, Houser had 12, including seven of Purdue's last nine and Drey Mingoadded 11 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.

Manuel and Wilson Among League's Best Freshmen Taylor Manuel, a 6-foot-2 forward from St. Louis, Mo., and April Wilson, a 5-foot-7 guard from Louisville, Ky., are the Boilermakers fifth and sixth leading scorers. In the Big Ten, the duo are among the top freshmen in the league in most of the major categories. Manuel led the Boilermakers at IU, tying her season high with 16 points. At 8.2 ppg, Manuel, a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week has the third-highest scoring average among freshmen, while Wilson's 5.8 ppg average is eighth. Manuel is tops in field goal percentage (.513) for those freshmen with 100 or more field goal attempts, and is third overall in the conference. Wilson is sixth for freshmen with 100 or more field goal attempts at .420. Among freshman playing 20 games or more, Manuel is sixth in rebounding, eighth in steals, third in blocked shots and 13th for assists. Wilson is fifth for three-point field goal percentage (.357), third for three throw percentage among the freshmen with 20 or more attempts (Manuel is 4th), tops in steals (1.52) and sixth in assists (1.72).

Doubling Up The Boilermakers have recorded 16 double-doubles this season with Drey Mingo's 11 points and 10 rebounds at Indiana the most recent. Sam Ostarello has a team-high nine double-doubles this season for a total of 14 in her career; tying for fifth for all time at Purdue for season double-doubles while tying for sixth all time for career double-doubles. Ostarello's 19 points and 14 rebounds against Minnesota was her third consecutive double-double, tying for third at Purdue for consecutive double-doubles. The school record is four which was last accomplished by Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton in 2009. Mingo has recorded five double-doubles this year for nine in her career and KK Houser has two this seaosn, one for points and assists and one for points and rebounds.
