Berea, Ky. (January 28th, 2013) - The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference is proud to announce Player of the Week honors for January 21st -
January 27th in Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball
Marcus Isaac, Indiana University East -- Men's Basketball Player of the Week
6-1 Senior - Indianapolis, IN
Indiana University East senior Marcus Isaac was named the KIAC men's
basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, January 28th.
This is his second player of the week award of the season.
Isaac averaged 26 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while leading
the pioneers to a 2-0 record last week. He connected on 65.5 percent
(19-of-29) of his field goal attempts and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from behind
the 3-point line. He started the week with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4
assists in a 112-94 win on the road against Park Point University. The
senior guard finished the week with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals in a
93-80 win against Berea College at home. Isaac is fourth in the KIAC and
leads the Red Wolves with 17.81 points per game.
Indiana University East is currently 15-7 overall and 5-2 in conference
play. They will return to action on January 29th when they host Cincinnati
Heather Wheat, Indiana University Southeast -- Women's Basketball Player of
5-6 Sophomore - Louisville, KY
Indiana University Southeast sophomore Heather Wheat was named the KIAC
women's basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, January
28th. This is her second player of the week award of the season.
Wheat averaged 23.5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals as IU
Southeast finished the week with a 2-0 record. The sophomore guard shot 50
percent (16-of-32) from the field and behind the 3-point line (7-of-14). She
led the Grenadiers to a 66-54 win against Berea College with 32 points, 5
rebounds and 5 steals. She also made 6-of-9 3-point attempts in the game.
Wheat finished the week with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in a 72-66
win against Kentucky Christian College. She currently ranks 5th in NAIA
Division II points per game (20.095) and 10th in assists per game (4.905).
Indiana University Southeast is currently 12-9 overall and 4-5 in conference
play. They will return to action on February 2nd when they travel to Alice
