Home » Girls' Golf NewsArea golfers head to WestwoodSeptember 19, 2012 Eastern Indiana SportsKristen Kenworthy chose the perfect time to shoot her personal best. The lone senior on Hagerstown’s girls golf team shot a personal-best 83 in last Saturday’s sectional, instrumental in the Tigers earning their first team sectional championship in school history. “It’s great. I’m really proud of my team. We’ve really put in a lot of time and effort into it this year and we’ve had a great season,” Kenworthy said. “ ... We had something to prove here this year, because a lot of people didn’t think we’d do very good. To accomplish what we have is great.” The Tigers are one of four area teams with great seasons so far that will be vying for regional titles this weekend. Hagerstown, Union County, Winchester and Richmond will compete at Saturday’s New Castle Regional at the Westwood Golf Course. The top three teams and the five low individuals from non-advancing teams qualify for the state championships Sept. 28-29. Ties for fifth place must be played off in order to advance. The Patriots finished second and the Red Devils were third at the Highland Lake sectional, while Winchester was second at the Muncie sectional.
