ANDERSON, IND. — Richmond missed out on a four-peat by the slimmest of margins.

The Red Devils were denied a fourth consecutive North Central Conference crown in girls golf on Monday as Marion edged RHS with the tiebreaker.

Both teams shot 164 for the top spot as the Red Devils took second place. Richmond’s Erin Ingram was the individual medalist as she fired a 35 at Anderson’s Grandview Golf Course.

The tournament originally was scheduled for Saturday and 18 holes, but was moved to Monday and shortened to nine holes because of the weekend’s wet weather.

“We’re a second-half team, but everyone had to play nine holes. That’s what it boils down to,” said RHS coach Ron Murphy.

Ingram continued her strong senior season by winning the individual honors, while teammate Haley Owens also was all-conference as she shot a 39 at Grandview.

Ingram was third overall last year. Both she and Owens repeated as all-NCC performers.
