Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Paul Maholm tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings, while Jason Heyward and Dan Uggla each crushed solo home runs, as the Atlanta Braves blanked the New York Mets, 3-0, in the opener of a three-game set Friday at Citi Field.

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Matt Dominguez hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the ninth inning off Aroldis Chapman on Friday and the Houston Astros stunned the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3, in the opener of a three-game series from Great American Ball Park. It was the second career home run for Dominguez, who was recalled from Triple- A Oklahoma City on Aug. 30.

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Ryan Braun belted a go-ahead home run in the 13th inning on Friday and the Milwaukee Brewers outlasted the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4, in the opener of a three-game series. The one-out blast to left field off Lance Lynn (13-7) was Braun's NL-leading 38th of the season and gave the reigning MVP his 100th RBI of the year.

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Chase Headley continued to carry the San Diego Padres on Friday. Headley hit two home runs, including a go-ahead solo shot in the eighth inning, and the Padres defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-5, in the opener of a three-game series at Petco Park. Over his last 18 games, Headley -- the NL Player of the Month for August -- has seven home runs and 25 RBI.
