RICHMOND, Ind. - That's how the Red Wolves defend their den.
The Indiana University East volleyball team defeated Lourdes University 25-13, 25-20, 25-11 on Sept. 5 at Seton Catholic High School in a matchup of Wolves vs. Wolves.
The 23rd-ranked Red Wolves improved to 10-0. The Gray Wolves fell to 5-9.
IU East's players took the court with the letters "DTD" - "Defend The Den" - written on their wrists.
The Red Wolves were less than satisfied with their performance in their 2012 Seton debut on Aug. 28 in a win against Marian University. They made amends against the Gray Wolves.
"We let the school and community down (against Marian), so the girls took that and came up with 'Defend The Den' because you should always play the game of your lives on your home court," said IU East coach Charlie Brown.
IU East scored the first five points of the match and never trailed in any set.
"The first and third game especially, we shut it down. We had good communication, good chemistry - just everything was good." said IU East freshman outside hitter Mallory Livingston (Union City, Ohio/Mississinawa Valley High School), who had a career-best nine kills.
IU East beat Lourdes for the second time in 12 days. The Red Wolves also beat the Gray Wolves on Aug. 24.
IU East opens Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Sept. 8 with two matches at Indiana University Southeast. The Red Wolves play Saint Louis College of Pharmacy at noon and face IU Southeast at 2 p.m.
