Caleb TerBush likely to start at QB for Purdue against Notre Dame

September 4, 2012

Providing Caleb TerBush has a good week of practice, coach Danny Hope said the fifth-year senior will be the starting quarterback when Purdue plays at Notre Dame on Saturday.

During his weekly radio show Monday night, Hope said TerBush “gives us the best chance to start off well.”

TerBush returned to practice Monday, following a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules. Robert Marve, making his first start since 2010, helped lead the Boilermakers to a 48-6 victory over Eastern Kentucky in Saturday’s opener, throwing for a career high 295 yards and three touchdowns.

TerBush spoke to members of the media before Hope’s radio show. He was scheduled to start against the Colonels before his suspension.

“You can’t let it happen. I slipped. I made a mistake but it’s part of life,” TerBush said Monday following practice about his suspension. “You have to learn from your mistakes and move on. Talked to the team and I’m ready to move on and get ready for Notre Dame.”
Although Hope didn’t announce his decision until Monday night, he gave an indication that starting TerBush might be the best option Sunday.
