It might give the Broncos every chance to compete for the Super Bowl which Elway signed Manning to chase this season. Elway said Manning, 36, is on a mission to win more rings. Returning the Broncos to the Super Bowl they last reached and won with Elway under center after the 1998 season would be all the sweeter considering the four neck surgeries Manning endured prior to his release from the Indianapolis Colts in March. "Looking at the end run, winning the Super Bowl is our goal. Our owner, Pat Bowlen, wants to be competitive and win Super Bowls,'' Elway told USA TODAY Sports before Denver's Thursday practice. "We're a lot closer now than we were. "I feel like with Peyton, as well as the supporting cast here, we can go out and compete for one, and that's all you can hope for.'' Manning is still the master of high-speed football chess with his pre-snap dissection of the defense. He may rely more than ever on his mental prowess and 14 years of experience this season.
