Thursday, Votto did an interview while pedaling an exercise bike in the Wrigley Field visitors clubhouse. Bottom line: “I’m not ready to play yet,” Votto said, pedaling briskly. “I’m moving in the right direction.” The Reds’ franchise player had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee (torn medial meniscus) on July 17. The Reds said Votto would miss three-to-four weeks from the date of surgery, and it has been just over three weeks. Votto was injured while sliding into third base on June 29 in San Francisco. He continued to play, then aggravated the knee July 15 against St. Louis. An MRI then showed the damage.
