Home » Football NewsMeyer looking for more speed from BuckeyesAugust 8, 2012 Eastern Indiana SportsBy Doug Harris Staff Writer COLUMBUS — Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer was handed a sheet of 40-yard-dash times from the summer. And while the list tells him he’s got plenty of burners, the Buckeyes still look too much like a lumbering team to him. “(Receiver) Evan Spencer ran a 4.4-something. Evan Spencer isn’t running a 4.4 out there,” Meyer said Monday, meaning the practice field. “There’s some fast times out there that our strength coach gave me, but they don’t play real fast.” Meyer’s teams have always had speed in abundance, and his offense depends on getting the ball to his swiftest players in open spaces. But the roster he inherited isn’t overflowing with greyhounds. One Buckeye who fits the criteria currently is sidelined. All-purpose back Jordan Hall is still wearing a protective boot after cutting a tendon in his foot and is expected to miss a couple of games.
