HOW IS IU'S 2012-2013 SCHEDULE LOOKING?

I got a note from a reader Monday asking me if the Indiana basketball schedule for the 2012-13 season would be released soon. It just seems like it should be coming out about now, the person wrote.

The truth, unfortunately, is that it could still be a month before the schedule is out. The last few years Indiana has opted not to release its basketball schedule until the Big Ten announces the conference portion. In previous years, Indiana might put out its non-conference schedule first and would then do a separate announcement when the Big Ten sked came out. In recent years, though, the Hoosiers have just announced everything all at once. 

Last year, the schedule didn’t come out until Sept. 7. The year before that it was Aug. 26. The season before that, the 2009-10 campaign, the Big Ten schedule was released Aug. 19. If you go one more year back, however, it was in September again on Sept. 3.
