Cincinnati Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham is not a big fan of talking to the media, but he did Thursday.

And the overriding theme that came out of the 10-minute interview was that he also isn’t a big fan of anything he’s accomplished in his first two years in the NFL.

“I’m very, very average, below average right now,” said Gresham, who is coming off a Pro Bowl season in which he caught 56 passes for 596 yards and six touchdowns.

“I’m not hard on myself, I just put things in perspective,” he continued. “I’m a realist.”

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Gresham was selected in the first round of the 2010 draft with the 21^st pick, ahead of New England’s Rob Gronkowski and New England’s Jimmy Graham, fellow Pro Bowlers who each had more than 1,300 yards receiving and double-digit TDs in 2011.
