IBCA SHOWCASE

A few quick thoughts from the IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase on Thursday night at Ben Davis: 

* There were a lot of top players missing from the event this year due to tournaments elsewhere. Trey Lyles, Trevon Bluiett and others were playing at the Peach Jam in South Carolina, Alex Etherington, Blake Simmons and others in Orlando, etc. There were probably more players missing than I can remember at this event in recent years. That is mostly to do with the date of the event, which now falls on the second day of the second five-day evaluation period in July and many college coaches are out on the road watching the national events. I wonder if moving the Top 100 to April – with a couple of evaluation periods now open again that month – would be a possibility to boost attendance.
