Five Assistant Coaches Join the Earlham College Athletics Staff

RICHMOND , Ind. — Earlham College Director of Athletics Mike Bergum announced on
Tuesday the appointment of five assistant coaches for four sports.

"These coaches bring a great deal of experience and knowledge to our respective
programs" Bergum said. “It is exciting to have them on board and working with our
department.”

With the hiring of Shane Meridith as the head coach of the women's soccer team last
week, Bergum expects an assistant for the program to be named within the next month.


Ryan Mills and Richard El were selected to be part of Earlham Head Football Coach
Neil Kazmierczak's staff.

"I'm excited to have Ryan and Richard become a part our staff," Kazmierczak said.
"We are looking forward to preparing for this fall."

Mills comes to Earlham from Rockford College . He will be the offensive coordinator
and quarterbacks coach for the Quakers.

Like Kazmeirczak, El was an assistant coach at Marian University last season. The
Knights finished 12-1 during the 2011 season. He will work with the linebackers and
serve as the strength and conditioning coach.

Bobby Plumer was hired for the men's basketball program after serving as the acting
head coach last winter at Siena Heights University in Michigan .

Janel Iden is joining the women's basketball team. Iden spent the last three years
as an assistant coach at the University of Mount Union, where the Raiders were 28-2
and advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament.

Tom Crabill will be the men's soccer assistant coach. He worked with the men's and
women's teams at Baldwin-Wallace College last year. Their men’s team finished 16-6
while the women’s team was 11-9.

Earlham competes in the HCAC along with Anderson University , Bluffton University ,
Defiance College , Franklin College, Hanover College, Manchester College , College
of Mount St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Transylvania University
.
