And that means it's time for sober reflections upon the first half of the 2012 season. In this particular cranny of the unblinking CBS eye, that means we're going to rank the best pitchers and position players based on their performances over the first three-plus months of the season. We're not dividing up American Leaguers and National Leaguers (it's all one big, heaping pile of ballplayers), and unlike, say, MVP and Cy Young voters, we're not going to penalize or reward a player for the quality of his teammates.
