Joey Votto leaves game as precautionary measure

SAN FRANCISCO - Joey Votto doesn’t think his left knee problem is serious. Votto left Saturday’s game after grounding out in the fifth inning.

He originally jammed his knee sliding into third base on Friday night.

“I tried to play through it,” he said. “It started acting up. There is some inflammation in my knee.”

Votto would not say whether he’ll play today.

“You’ll have to ask (trainer Paul Lessard) and (Reds manager) Dusty (Baker),” he said.
