TECUMSEH, Ohio – Eaton’s defense limited Greenon to eight field goals Tuesday night, and the Eagles advanced to the Division II Tecumseh sectional title game with a 58-28 victory.

Kasey Titkemeyer, Elizabeth Tolliver and Danielle Karns each scored six points in the first quarter as the Eagles jumped to a 25-4 lead.

“Defense won us this game,” Eaton coach Gary Peffly said. “If you take the first, second and fourth quarters — we gave up 16 points — it’s just outstanding defense.”

Tolliver’s 14 points led the Eagles, while Karns added 12 and Michelle McKinney and Autumn Whirley each scored nine. Whirley also had seven assists, while Julia Titus blocked four shots and Katie Yoder grabbed six rebounds.

Eaton (20-4), the third seed, plays second-seeded Tipp City in the noon Saturday championship at Tecumseh.

“It’s going to take a monumental effort to win that game,” Peffly said. “Tipp City is a very, very good team, and we’re going to have to play really smart to beat them.”
