January 19, 2012
By Trent Hanson of East Ridge High School

East Ridge High School is proud to announce that Mr. Anthony Bidwell has been hired as Head Boys Soccer Coach.   Most recently, Anthony served as the Head Girls Soccer Coach at Eden Prairie High School from 2009-11, where his teams compiled a 46-5-6 record.   They won two Lake Conference championships, one Section 2AA Championship, one Section 2AA Runner-up title, and the 2010 MSHSL Class AA State Championship.  His 2010-11 Eden Prairie team was ranked #1 in the nation by NCSAA.  Anthony posts one of the highest all-time win percentages in high school girls soccer.   Prior to coaching at Eden Prairie, Anthony was the Head Boys Soccer Coach at DeLaSalle for six years, where he holds the record for the most victories by any head soccer coach in school history.

During the nine years of service as a Head Soccer Coach in the state of Minnesota, Anthony has twice won the Section Coach of the Year Award (2005 and 2010) as well as the USSF McNulty Award (2007).   He holds a “B” USSF License (2008), ACE Personal Training License, Chek Holistic Lifestyle and Fitness License, has been a Head Coach at MTA for eight years, and has also served as Director of Footholde Soccer Camps for five years.

A Social Studies teacher at East Ridge, Anthony is thrilled to take on this position that couples his passion for both teaching and coaching.   He looks forward to building a program that will attain excellence.   A meet-and-greet event with Anthony Bidwell will be held this spring – details are forthcoming.
