STILLWATER – Jenks rolled to its 13th state title with a convincing 55-20 victory over Norman North Friday night at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Trey’Vonne Barre got the party started early as he rushed 22 times for 288 yards and three first-half touchdowns. The Trojan senior, already the school’s career rushing leader, finished this season with 2,240 yards as Jenks rolled to a 41-7 halftime cushion.

Jenks started the year 0-2 but won 12 straight to capture its first title since 2007.

“This was a special group,” said the Jenks coach “A resilient bunch that did what was asked and overcame a lot. I couldn’t be more proud. Out of all my years, they have been one of the most enjoyable groups to coach.”

Norman North cracked the scoreboard late in the first half but Jenks answered with a 97-yard kickoff return by Brett Tye for a 41-7 halftime cushion.

The Timberwolves (12-2) scored two quick third-quarter touchdowns to cut the lead to 41-20.

But the Trojans answered on two Kyle Alexander touchdown passes to Trey Michalczewski and Jordan Smallwood.

The title was the 10th for head coach Allan Trimble, the most of any high school football coach in Oklahoma.

Every Jenks secondary starter had an interception and the Trojans recorded three sacks.

Jenks finished with 526 yards, 333 on the ground.

“We knew we had a job to do today,” said Jenks quarterback Kyle Alexander. “We knew Norman North has a good football team and we give them a lot of credit. We read headlines and we were aware of what was being said about us. We went about our business and got the job done.”

Norman North recorded 333 passing yards en route to 351 overall, but five turnovers doomed the Timberwolves.

“it was special for us,” said Barre. “We knew we could control the game and our offensive line did a great job of opening holes. This is the way to go out.”
