Eagles win season opener
August 23, 2010By Calvin Walters of Eastern Alamance High School
Quarterback Will Walker threw two touchdowns, and ran for another on the night as the Eagles won their season opener for the third year in a row.
Ryan Couch opened the scoring for the Eagles with a touchdown reception in the first quarter. Following a long scramble down to the one yard line, Will Walker scored on a quarterback sneak to put the Eagles up 14-0 in the second half. Junior reciever Robbie Lanier caught the final touchdown on the night for the Eagles in the third quarter.
A strong defensive unit led by defensive end Nick Miles, and safety Alexander Dawson terrorized the Red Wolves backfield all night. Miles came away with several tackles in the backfield and sacks, while Dawson intercepted a pass late in the game.
Video from the game will be added later.
Eastern Alamance opens the home season next week against Graham.
