Home » Baseball NewsEagles move on to Regional FinalsMay 24, 2012 By Calvin Walters of Eastern Alamance High SchoolZack Littell struck out 10 batters and allowed only seven hits (all singles) in a complete game effort to lead the Eastern Alamance Eagles to a 6-4 victory over the defending Eastern Regional Champion NE Guilford Rams Tuesday night. Robbie Lanier hit what proved to be the game winning runs with a two run blasts in the fifth inning to put the Eagles up 6-1 at the time. NE Guilford would respond, but a Littell diving catch on the final play of the game sent the Eagles to the Eastern Regional championship for the first time in school history. Jake Wood, Nick Monroe, Cody Curry and Ridge Eaton would all add hits for the Eagles on the night. With the victory the Eagles advance to a best 2 out of 3 series against the C.B. Aycock Falcons. Aycock was the fourth seed out of their conference, but due to NCHSAA seeding priorities will host the first game Thursday night. Eastern Alamance will then play at home Friday night and if necessary a thrid game will be played at Aycock on Saturday. All games are slated to start at 6:00 pm.
