Straight to the Point
July 15, 2013By Leslie Toole of Delta States Report
College coaches spend the month of July in gyms all across the country. Some of them air conditioned...some of them not so air conditioned. The Mississippi State staff came out of the first July viewing period with news worthy of each long, warm and exhausting day.
Receiving their most recent commitment Sunday, July 14th from one of the more talent guards in the southern region the 2014 class is starting to show some form. Morgan Williams of Shades Valley (AL) (to the left) committed to Mississippi State by posting a brief video on Facebook. The electrifying guard with a vicious hesitation dribble and the speed and quickness to thwart many defensive schemes stated her bonding with the staff as a large part as to why she chose Mississippi State.
Morgan will bring intensity on both ends of the floor to the program. Additionally, her ability to distribute the ball soundly in traffic will be of great effect in the speed conscious SEC.
Not stopping there, Mississippi State was able to cultivate an earlier commitment from ahighly rated point guard right in their backyard. Blair Schaefer (to the right) (daughter of MSU coach Vic Schaefer) decided to take her talent to Mississippi State as well. The nifty ball handler has built her game around change of speed moves with good court vision and a killer instinct from three point range.
This Thunder & Lightning combo should bring some very exciting moments to Starkville along with some stormy weather for a few opposing teams.
