Freeland's single leads Benton Central past No. 1 Delphi

OXFORD -- Run-scoring singles by Jordan Johnson and Devon Freeland in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night rallied Benton Central to a 5-4 victory over Class 2A No. 1 Delphi.

The Bison (8-1) looked like they would have to settle for a split of their Hoosier Conference baseball series when Delphi (7-3) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run single by Ostin Clark. Clark went 2-for-4

Freeland, who struck out five in 6 1/3 innings, went 2-for-4 for Benton Central. Cameron Kirts also had two hits for BC.

Garrett Johnson also had two hits for Delphi, and Jason Sterrett pitched 6 1/3 innings, striking out six and allowing only four hits and two earned runs.
