Coach Pleased with Showing in XC Districts

November 7, 2009
Deerfield Beach High School

Cross Country coach Jerry Guthrie feels his young team is poised to make great gains next season. "We are a young team and can really see the possibilities for next year," said Guthrie. The boys and girls teams competed Thursday in the district championship meet at Quiet Waters Park. Even though no Bucks qualified for the regional competition, Coach Guthrie was pleased with the performance of several runners. Alexus Lotz recorded the fastest time amongst the Lady Bucks with a personal best of 22:42. Joe Therot returned to action following a foot injury and finished in 18:42, the fastest time for any boy this year. Tom LaCava set a persoanl record of 19:30. Overall, the Bucks top six boys completed the race in less than 21:00.
