Bucks Beat 2nd District Opponent

Taravella's Devon Wright got his yards, but Deerfield Beach escaped with the District 9-6A victory at Coral Springs High School on Thursday.
Deerfield Beach was efficient, as it needed 10 total plays on its first three drives to score 21 unanswered points to take a 21-7 halftime lead en route to spoiling Taravella's homecoming.
Deerfield Beach (5-2, 1-0) wasted little time in answering, as Matt Humphries scored off left tackle from 4 yards out to tie the contest at 7 and, the Bucks took the lead for good at 14-7 as Donte Dotson rolled right and found Pedro Correa for a 23-yard score.
Wright, who entered the game as the county's second leading rusher with 993 yards, finished with 34 carries for 216 yards and two touchdowns.
Wright gave Taravella (2-5, 0-2) a 7-0 lead with 3:50 left in the first quarter on a 1-yard run that capped a 17-play, 72-yard drive.
