Bucks Face Challenge in Taravella

October 19, 2009
Deerfield Beach High School

The Bucks next football game will pit them against Broward County's top running back. This Thursday (Oct. 22), Deerfield's defense will have the task of shutting down Taravella's Devon Wright who has rushed for 993 yards on 159 carries for a 6.2 yard average. The Trojan senior also leads the county's large schools with 12 touchdowns. Taravella is 2-4, 0-1 in the district after a disappointing 13-12 loss to Stoneman Douglas back on Oct. 9th. That makes this a must-win game for the Trojans to keep their playoff hopes alive. Even though Wright is their workhorse, Taravella will put the ball in the air as they have passed for over 800.
Bucks quarterback Donte Dotson leads his team in rushing with 625 yards and an impressive 9.2 yards per-carry average. Deerfield enters the Taravella game averaging 282 yards on offense which is ninth amongst Broward County's large schools. The defense is yielding an average of 234 yards per contest.
The Bucks are 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the district which ties them with Douglas for the top spot in District 9-6A.
Game time is 7 p.m. at Coral Springs High School.
