The Dan Anderson Lacrosse Classic (DALC) was founded in 2004 in memory of one of GBYLA's first and most dedicated parent boosters, Dan Anderson, who died of melanoma cancer in his late 40's. Dan was one of those parents who was always involved in his son's activities as a coach and/or parent volunteer. Dan's son Chris played lacrosse for 7 years through the GBYLA in Mountain Brook. Dan attended all Chris' team practices and games and helped any way he could with the team and the GBYLA. Within just a few years, Dan went from a sideline dad to Head Coach. His passion for the sport was contagious.

In memory of Dan's spirit and contributions, the GBYLA and Dan's employer, Sterne Agee, launched the Dan Anderson Lacrosse Classic (DALC). Proceeds benefit the GBYLA and Mountain Brook Lacrosse.

In 7 years, the DALC has grown from a 4-team U15 tournament in its first year to a 64 team - U15 and High School-boys and girls tournament. In 2010, teams participated from Huntsville, and the States of Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.

The Co-Chairmen of the DALC, from its inception, have been Dan's wife, Tracey Anderson, and Tom Lewis, who coached Dan's son Chris for 3 years from 2004 - 2006 on the Mountain Brook Lacrosse team.

The 9th Annual DALC Tournament is scheduled to be held April 14-15, 2012 at the Rathmell Mountain Brook Sports Park, Mountain Brook, AL and the Sicard Hollow Soccer Complex in Vestavia Hills, AL.
