Atlanta, GA—The Pig Skin Classic is getting ready to kick off with the top teams around the Southeast. Dec 1-4 get ready to see some heart pumping action and thrilling plays to get the fans out of their seats. Before we kick off Friday, let’s take a look at some of the top teams that will surely rock the house!!
Team:12u North Clayton Red Eagles League: Clayton County Football League (CFL) Coach: Randy Quarles Record: 13-0 and CFL Championship Season Outlook: Coach Quarles told D1Spects, "Our season was wonderful. Kids had expectations of making the Frank Ski Bowl, we beat the North Clayton Red Eagles who were ranked high by Born to Compete. And still did not get the respect we deserve." Key Wins: Beating a high ranked North Clayton Eagles (Blue) twice and winning the CFL championship Offensive Philosophy: Go hard every play, every body has a job and keep fighting Defensive Philosophy: Beast! North Clayton Eagles have only allowed one touchdown one season. Have a lot Depth and can rotate without dropping off in talent. Players to Watch: #2 Ramone Luster is the spark to the Eagles offense, but this team has several players that can get in and go. Team: 6u Georgia Rattlers Coach: Charles Phillips League: The City of Atlanta Football League Record: 10-0 and William Walker Toy Bowl Championship Season Outlook: “We had a good season, and haven’t lost a game in two years. We have big expectations and our team has held up to those expectations” Key Wins: Pitmann Park 27-26, defeating Welcome All Panthers 6-0, and winning the William Walker Toy Bowl by beating Ben Hill (Blue) 6-0 OT. Offensive Philosophy- Pound the ball with runs, and misdirections. Defensive Philosophy- Fly around the ball and attack the ball carrier. Team: 10u McEachern Indians (Blue) League: DeKalb Footbal League (DFL) Record: 6-2, Number two team in the conference. Season Outlook: I think it was a great year, we develop players at line and skill position. A lot of growth…Great defensive season, only allowed 26 points. Offensive Philosophy: Double Wing, a lot of misdirection. A lot of talent in the backfield, score quickly and consistently. Defensive Philosophy: Strong upfront to prevent any possibility to get up the middle, and shutdown the outside. Utilizing linebackers to plug up middle. Players to Watch: Shut down corners that have not allowed a touchdown #26 Elliot Freeman and #28 Justin Barker (brought up from the 9u team that went 11-0 and super-bowl win). Quarterback #3 Zay Ellis, Fullback #16 Chase Keller, and Tailback #1 Bryce Moore.
