CHAMPIONSHIP DAY RECAP by D1Spects

Atlanta , GA   The "Smash Gang" laid down a compelling argument for #1 team in the state as it claimed a 27-0 victory over Welcome All Panthers in the 6U MAYFL Championship game.   The Welcome All Panthers came out smoking with two quick first downs on there first possession , but after a couple of miscues in the backfield , the Smash Gang quickly ran off 20 points an never looked back.

Saulamon Evans

The Vikings were lead by their crafty back Saulamon Evans who finished the game with 137 yds rushing and 2 TD , 2 Tackles for losses.   Also shining for the Vikings #7 QB  Terrance Love with a 55 yd bootleg for a TD and two interceptions.  The key to the Vikings game was keeping Welcome Alls running game to a season minimum.  Welcome Alls #12  Kaleb Rasten was held to just 5 carries 12 yards as the Panthers unraveled early with a total of 5 tunrovers.

8U  Central DeKalb White vs Central Dekalb Black

Defense was the name of the game as the "Backyard Battle" ended up in a 6-0 overtime win for Central Dekalb Black.     CD White came into the game as the favorite finishing the season with a 12-0 victory of Central Dekalb Black.   Mired in a defensive struggle for 4 quarters , the game ended on the 14yd line with a failed field goal attempt by CD Black.

Black got the first position in overtime , in a 3rd a goal play , #10 QB Joesph Jackson drops back to pass and hits #12  Johnathan Evans for a 15 yard TD,  Ballgame.  CD White tried valiantly to answer ,but failed to do so as a 4th down reverse was halted at the two yard line.
