8th grade Lady Cubs Championship bound!

The 8th grade Lady Cubs are championship game bound after a win against Martinsville West last night, 38-19.  It was a tale of two halves.  The first half was a close game with both teams trying to gain an advantage and our Ladies held a slim 4 point advantage at the half, 17-13.  The second half was a different story as the Lady Cubs out scored the Arties 21-6.  Defense was the theme of the night as Makenna Bertsch and Karissa Ratliff frustrated thier opponents with stifling defense.  Every player that played had a great defensive night and there was very little opportunity for Martinsville to get a open shot off.  Offensively, the Lady Cubs shined at passing to open teammates.  Each possession had many players making the extra pass to an even better shot.  It was a solid performance.  The leading scorer and rebounder of the night was Allison Barnard, as she was dominant during her time in the game.

The championship game will be Thursday at home against Plainfield.  The Lady Cubs will look to avenge a five point loss earlier this season and take home the Jr. Mid-State Conference Championship.  Please come and support the ladies in thier quest to end the season on a winning note!
