Home » 7th Grade Girls Basketball News7th grade lady cubs - Johnson County Champions!!March 11, 2013 Franklin Community Middle SchoolThe 7th grade Lady Cubs basketball team brought home the Johnson County Championship on Saturday afternoon by defeating Center Grove Central 31-26. It looked as if the ladies were going to have a smooth victory taking an easy 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but a lapse on the boards allowed Center Grove to get right back in the game with the Lady Cubs only leading by 4 at the half. A sluggish 3rd quarter saw the score tied at the end of the third, and Center Grove took the lead with around 3 minutes remaining in the fourth. The Lady Cubs finally came alive with some nice passes and transition work to get to the freethrow line putting in 6 freethrows down the stretch to seal the victory. Britney Klotzsche had her best game of the season with a double double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sydney Logsdon came out on fire and finished strong with 9 points and 4 rebounds. Sarah Sullivan hit a big 3 pointer and connected on both her freethrows in the fourth quarter for her 5 points to go with her 2 assists and 2 steals. Lexi Engelking got to the freethrow line and went 2 for 2 on the day. Emma Jones reeled in 5 boards, had 2 steals, and made several key passes to help her team push past the Trojans. Morgan Luna came in and handled the ball well getting several opportunities at the freethrow line. Rilee King and Maddie Rector came in off the bench and added that extra spark for the Lady Cubs to surge past the Trojans. The entire bench was amazing and the whole game was a great total team effort! Congratulations Lady Cubs on a job well done! Please come and support your Lady Cubs as they continue to vie for the conference championship tonight at Martinsville East. Good luck ladies!
