Lady Cubs Split contest v. Plainfield
February 28, 2013Franklin Community Middle School
The 8th grade Lady Cubs basketball team split their contest last night against the undefeated Plainfield Quakers last night.
In the A game, the ladies fell 37-32 in a very physical game. The Quakers took the floor with confidence and determination, taking a quick 6-0 lead. It was a lead they would never relinquish. The Lady Cubs attempted to battle back throughout the game getting the deficit down to 2 multiple times. The Quakers extended the lead to 13 early in the 3rd quarter and it ended up being too much to the Lady Cubs. The game ended on a big run by the ladies only to end up coming short by 5.
The B game was a close contest, in favor of the Lady Cubs 16-13. The game was lead from beginning to end by the Lady Cubs. A lid on the basket prevented us from winning the game by a much larger margin. The defensive effort was great as the ladies held a the previously undefeated Quaker team to a season low of 13 points. Kylie Burdine, coming off injury and playing her first game in two and a half weeks, lead the team in scoring with 10 points. Katie Crump, Kendal Byrne, and Logan Hess all chipped in on the scoring as well.
The Lady Cubs finish up the month with a game against Shelbyville tonight at Shelbyville. Wish them luck!
