HENDERSON, Nev. -- The College of Southern Nevada softball team dropped a pair of games to two nationally-ranked opponents in their own CSN Kickoff Classic on Sunday, falling 8-3 to No. 9 Phoenix College (Ariz.) and 7-1 to No. 11 Chattanooga State Community College (Tenn.) at Stephanie Lynn Craig Park.

The Coyotes fell behind 3-0 to Phoenix early on before loading the bases up in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Desiree Laswell cleared the bases with a double to tie the game at 3.

That's as close as it would get for CSN (4-3) though, as the Bears scored three runs in the fourth to pull away for good.

Jasmine Fukuda went 2-for-3 for the Coyotes, while Laswell finished 2-for-4.

In the nightcap, the Tigers (8-0) held CSN to just four hits on their way to victory.

Cheyenne Wells crushed a solo home run in the fourth inning for the Coyotes' lone run.

Up next, CSN travels to Yuma, Ariz. for the Great Western Shootout this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4.
