Home » Volleyball NewsCowgirls return to finals - GOING FOR #7 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPNovember 10, 2012 Crook County High SchoolEUGENE — After blasting through the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the Class 4A state tournament without dropping a game, the Crook County Cowgirls will play Astoria for their seventh consecutive state title tonight at Lane Community College. The Cowgirls dropped Madras 25-10, 25-17, 25-17 in the semifinals after cruising past Elmira 25-11, 25-23, 25-8 in the quarterfinals Friday at the 4A state championships. “We’re going for No. 7!" Crook County coach Rosie Honl beamed after her team bested Madras. Cowgirl middle blocker Makayla Lindburg, the two-time 4A player of the year, held nothing back against the White Buffaloes, going 17 of 18 from the service line with four aces in addition to recording a match-high 16 kills. Ali Apperson went 15 of 15 on serves and Hannah Troutman added 15 kills and eight digs for Crook County.
