Home » Golf NewsLinksters win at Meadow Lakes - Central OregonianMay 3, 2012 Crook County High SchoolIt was supposed to be a nine-team invitational. Instead, only two teams showed up for the Meadow Lakes Invitational in Prineville on Tuesday. Although they struggled with their putting, the Cowgirls came away with an easy victory in their only home event of the year. Crook County’s Kirsti Kelso fired a 44-40—84 to post the low round of the tournament. She was 10 strokes ahead of runner up Jaci McKenzie, also of Crook County. Chelsea Shank fired the best round of her career to finish third with a round of 97. Kalie Solomon came away with fourth place with a score of 106, while Sierra Morgan tied for fifth with a score of 107. The Cowgirls finished with a team total of 381. Emily Cyphers led the way for The Dalles Wahtonka — the only other team in the tournament — with a round of 107. Although head coach Grant Patterson was disappointed with the turnout for the tournament, he was still pleased with the opportunity to play. “I’d like to have seen some more teams,” he said. “Still the weather was good, and it was a good tune-up for us.” The tournament was the final event for Crook County before the Special District 5 tournament, which will be held at Tokatee Golf Course on May 7-8.
