IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (3-4-13)

March 4, 2013
Cowan High School

"Promoting education-based athletics in Indiana."

How do you know if you are college ready?  What do college athletic programs look for when analyzing the high school student-athlete?  If you are an underclassman, have you given any thought about going on to college and participating in your sport?

For starters, it's never too early to be making good grades.  Depending on your skill level athletically, a good academic record will give you choices, instead of limiting your possibilities.

There's usually a place for the high school athlete who wants to compete at the next level.  There are always schools looking for those quality students who want to continue their education and participate in sports.

It may not be a big name school or big time program, but remember this, if you want to compete at the college level and have a quality academic record, there's a place for you!
