MEET THE TEAM
Jessica returns for her fifth season as the Head Coach of the Cardinals. She was named the 2011 Section 5AA Coach of the Year after guiding the team to a Northwest Suburban Conference Championship and a third place finish at the MSHSL State Tournament in her first season. Prior to coaching at Coon Rapids, she was a four year assistant with the University of Saint Thomas, where the team went 68-32-5 during that time.
Christopherson is no stranger to Cardinal Athletics as she is a 2000 graduate and Athena Award winner at CRHS. In hockey, she was Captain, 4X All Conference, 2X All State Honorable Mention and scored 153 career points (95 goals, 58 assists). In soccer, she was All Conference, All Metro First Team, All State and recorded a school record 18 shut-outs in her senior season. She helped lead the Cardinals to a third place finish in the State Tournament.
Jessica went on to graduate from the University of Saint Thomas in 2004 with a B.A. in Sociology. In hockey, she was All MIAC (40 points, MIAC-best 27 goals) as a freshman before suffering a career ending injury just four games into her sophomore season. As a soccer goaltender, she was Captain, 3X All MIAC, 2X All Region, 2X MVP and holds the school record for career shut-outs with 39. She also helped lead the Tommies to two NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight round appearance during her junior season.
Jessica is a member of the Herb Brooks Award Committee, the MSHSL Hockey Advisory Committee and also serves as the Girls Coach Representative on the MSHSL Region 5AA Committee. In the past four years, she has coached Team Minnesota to three championships in the High School National Invitational Tournament and also been a part of the staff for the Section 5 Senior Classic Team. In addition to running her own summer camp for girls ages 4-18, she is also the Director of the Premier Prep League. She recently completed her USA Hockey Level 5 CEP Certification and was also named a coach for the USA Hockey/Sports United hockey exchange trip to Russia in October, 2012.
