2014 Beacons Off To A Good Start
April 11, 2014By Marc Paul of Concordia Academy Track & Field
The CA Track and Field teams for both the boys and the girls got off to a much earlier start than in 2013, and also got off to a good start. With quite a limited amount of practice doing the actual events, the athletes competed very well doing their best with what we have worked on. The boys' team won the Tri-Metro Quadrangular with 97.5 points with the 2nd place team finishing with 71.5 points. The girls had an even more convincing victory scoring 114 points with the 2nd place Providence Academy having 57 points. First place finishers for the girls were Miriam Nordquist (100 Hurdles), Dani Peterson (100 M Dash & Pole Vault), Megan Fallert (300 Hurdles & High Jump), and Clara Paul (Long Jump & Triple Jump). Also, winning their events were the 4 x 100 Relay (Anna Benson, Dani Peterson, Clara Paul, Miriam Nordquist) and the 4 x 200 Relay (Jacqueline Waedekin, Michala Walther, Anna Benson, Clara Paul). First place finishers for the boys were Nolan Harre (110 Hurdles), Jacob Kaden (300 Hurdles) Eric Young (Long Jump), and Mark Stage (Pole Vault). The relay teams in the 4 x 100 (Isaac Hernandez, Austin Moldenhauer, Kalilo Tufa, Eric Young) and the 4 x 800 (David Cullen, Joe Vallin, Berhane Hansen, Guy Hansen).
One side note is that the order in the girls HJ placing was actually Megan Fallert (1st), Erin Fallert (2nd) and Katie Tastad (3rd). The results on the link show a different order.
Good job to these and all of the other competitors. Even better things are yet to come.
