Home » Athletics NewsCA vs. St. Croix LutheranFebruary 25, 2013 By Amy Bellus of Concordia Academy Girls BasketballVs. St. Croix Lutheran (38-46-L) The Beacons fell victim to a poor shooting night in this loss, hitting just 1/12 from behind the arc and shooting just 26% from the field. CA’s defense kept them in the game, but they just couldn’t find enough offensive firepower to pull off the upset. The Beacons fell behind by double figures in the second half, but Jacquelyn Waedekin provided a defensive spark off the bench, rallying the Beacons. They cut the Crusader lead to 3 with just over two minutes left in the game, but the Beacons were unable to get over the hump. Michala Walther had another double-double, scoring a dozen points and grabbing 10 boards and 3 steals. Kayleigh Sellner battled early foul trouble, but finished with 9 points and 4 rebounds before fouling out late in the game. Megan Fallert had a nice all-around game with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
