Eric Schutte (Varsity Head Coach)
Eric Schutte enters his 11th year as head coach at Concordia Academy. He spent the 1998-1999 season as the beacons JV coach then moved onto become a baseball assistant at Concordia University St. Paul, Mn for five years ('99-'04) under current coach Mark "Lunch" McKenzie. Schutte's current high school coaching record is 95-86.
A 1993 graduate of Mayer Lutheran High School, 1995 graduate of Bethany Lutheran Junior college Mankato, Mn, and a 1998 graduate of Concordia University St. Paul where he graduated with a degree in physical education/health and a masters degree in youth development. Schutte played baseball two years ('93-'95) at Bethany Lutheran Junior College Mankato, Mn and football and baseball at Concordia University St. Paul, Mn ('95-'99). He currently holds eighteen baseball records at Concordia University and was named conference player of the year in 1997. In 1998, he played semi-pro with the Austin Southern Minny Stars and currently plays amateur baseball for the Loretto Larks. In 2008 he was inducted into the Concordia University Hall of Fame.
Schutte currently teaches physical education at Community Peace Academy. He and his wife Amy reside in Woodbury and have three sons, Tyler (10), Caleb (7) and Austin (3).
Doug Johnson (Varsity Assistant)
Doug Johnson enters his 8th year as varsity assistant. He joined Coach Schutte after fifteen years of being the head varsity baseball coach at St. Bernard's High School where he had one state tournament appearence, four conference championships, six sub sections championships, and a career record was 180-155.
Johnson is a 1975 graduate of Concordia Academy where has was a three year letter winner in baseball and four year letter winner in wrestling. In 1980, he graduated from Concordia College St. Paul, Mn with a BA in education. He played three years of college baseball at second base.
He and his wife Monica reside in Roseville and have two sons, Brad (28) and Eric (23).
Evan Pheneger (JV)
Pheneger enters his 5th as junior varsity coach. He graduated from Concordia Academy in 2005 where he played shortstop for Coach Schutte and was an all conference player and team MVP. Pheneger also graduated from Dordt College in 2009 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. On the diamond, he was a three year starter, all conference player, and holds the career record for most HBP's.
Pheneger currently works as a design engineer at Skyline Exhibits and resides in Roseville. He and his wife Lydia reside in Roseville.
