Cardinals Show Strong at GMC Championships

The Cross Country teams competed at Voice of America park for the Greater Miami Conference Championships last weekend, going up against some of the toughest teams in the state. Despite some runners not running their best times of the season, the girls team still finished 4th overall, with the boys placing 5th. The girls team was lead by senior Allison Steinbeck, who placed 12th with a time of19:31. Sophomore Kristen Seiler returned from injury to place 18th with a time of 19:53. Coming in close behind to finish of the team score was Sam Work (19th, 20:01), sophomore Kabrella Clark (20th,20:04), and senior Stacey Sulken (29th, 20:37). The boy's team was lead by a strong performance by junior Erik Tomczewski, who finished 5th overall with a time of 16:21. Seniors Craig Sulken (25th, 17:04), Victor Zeinner (29th, 17:10), and Craig White (32nd, 17:27) came in next, and freshman Nate Sizemore (38th, 17:42) stepped up in his first conference meet. Both teams will compete once again at Voice of America next week in the District Championships, hoping once again to qualify for the Regional Championships in Troy.
